Social Responsibility
ArcomIT in the Community
At ArcomIT we have always worked hard to conduct our business in the most ethical way possible, with a broad set of initiatives which make an important contribution to our commitment to sustainability and corporate social responsibility. Driven enthusiastically by its owner and employees, the Company has always donated at least 5% of its profits every year to charities and good causes.
These initiatives are characterised by a strong link with local community projects and stakeholders, and an active involvement with local charities. For example, ArcomIT and its staff have had a long standing affiliation with The Guildford and District Rotary club, helping with fundraising and raising awareness of its work through events and also to collecting money on a Saturday afternoon in the High Street. The Company also lended its support to last year's successful 'Save the Royal Surrey Hospital Campaign', where it provided funds to help two Guilford residents take part in a rally from Guildford to Gambia in West Africa, crossing the Sahara Dessert, which raised money and awareness for the hospitals plight.
Charity of the Year
Each year, as part of its community investment programme, ArcomIT adopts a local charity that it chooses to be a 'Charity Champion' for. In 2008, the charity ArcomIT will be supporting is The Jigsaw School. Support will take the form of fundraising help, providing IT support and services and donating a percentage of its annual profits. The Jigsaw School educates children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders, with schools in Dunsfold and Guildford, each child has a programme designed around a broad and varied curriculum, but geared to their individual needs. It is this specialist child-centred education and structured support that will help to maximise the skills of the children and help them achieve their full potential as adults.
Both ArcomIT and The Jigsaw School are celebrating their 10 year anniversaries this year in what will be a particularly important one for Jigsaw as they look to expand their provision to include children for a post-16 curriculum. To cater for this expansion, The Jigsaw School, are busy raising funds for the refurbishment of an additional building and plan to open the new classrooms to pupils in September.
